• Family Member Names: Names you assign to family members for voting
• Photos: Images you add to activities from your photo library
• Travel Details: Flight numbers, hotel reservations, and transportation information

Information Collected Automatically

The app may collect:

• Location Data: When you add addresses to activities, we use geocoding to display locations on maps. This is processed on-device or through Apple's Maps service.
• Device Information: Basic device identifiers for iCloud sync functionality

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Store and display your vacation plans within the app
• Sync your data across your Apple devices via iCloud
• Display activity locations on maps
• Generate AI-powered insights for activities (processed on-device)
• Enable sharing trips with family members

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Your trip data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data remains on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync

If you are signed into iCloud, your data syncs automatically to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This enables:

• Access to your trips across all your Apple devices
• Automatic backup of your data
• Sharing trips with other iCloud users

Your iCloud data is protected by your Apple ID credentials and Apple's security measures. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

AI Processing

Activity insights are generated using Apple's on-device Foundation Models (available on iOS 18+ and macOS 15+). This processing happens entirely on your device, and no data is sent to external AI services.

Third-Party Services

vaykay planner uses the following Apple services:

• Apple Maps: For geocoding addresses and displaying maps
• iCloud/CloudKit: For syncing data across devices
• Foundation Models: For on-device AI insights

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data may be shared only in these circumstances:

• With Family Members: If you choose to share a trip using the app's sharing feature
• With Apple: Through iCloud sync (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Delete Your Data

You have full control over your data:

• View all your data directly in the app
• Delete individual trips, activities, or all data within the app
• Delete app data from iCloud via iOS/macOS Settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all local data

iCloud Sync

You can disable iCloud sync for the app in your device's Settings under iCloud.

Location Services

The app does not require location permissions. Address geocoding uses the addresses you provide, not your current location.

Photo Access

Photo library access is only used when you choose to add photos to activities. You can revoke this permission in Settings.

Children's Privacy

vaykay planner is a general audience app suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed to be used by families, and any information about children is entered and controlled by parents or guardians.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as you keep it in the app. When you delete a trip or activity, it is removed from your device and iCloud. Deleted data may remain in iCloud backups according to Apple's backup retention policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Since we do not sell personal information and the app stores data locally or in your personal iCloud account, most CCPA provisions do not apply. You can delete all your data at any time through the app.

International Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or other regions with data protection laws, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. Your data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account, giving you full control. You can exercise your rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) directly through the app and your Apple ID settings.
